First of all I would just like to apologize to all the daily readers of Matt's Happy Trail for the delay in posts. This apology however is not extended to Drew Herzon. "Dueces" as they call him, is a legend in the blogging community, known for his 3rd grade grammar mistakes and unwitty sense of humor. So mentally weak and insecure, "deisel" is forced, by his own nature, to take these blatant personality flaws out on someone special. But I think he hit the nail on the head, two eight is a young man with so much raw talent and infinite potential, but where is the work ethic? So no, I do not apologize to you deisel fuel, in any way shape or form. Sir, I thank you. I thank you for being so mentally weak that it makes me realize how much better I can be. The blade of a sword always looks sharper next to a dull butter knife, right guys? You keep working Rocket, and someday you will over come your insecurities.
Uhm, I got this number I been meaning to show you, thought it would be cool for you to check out. Its the success hotline.. 973-743-4690.. just some number I stumbled across a few years ago. Might want to give that a ring for some inspirational motivation to improve. I know I've been a regular caller since sophmore year, and let's be honest its paying off.
Anyway, I need to go get started on my project. Spitball some ideas around. I want this to be dynamite.
(hey dueces, when the ball is dropped into your hand this Friday vs Valley in the biggest game of our lives, through all the chaos, emotion, and confusion, try to always remember one thing- two eights at third, and batting leadoff, and a Marini Piece team is never desperate... so trust what got us there, reach back, and Make It Home. I love you)

A wise man once said "I hate you Drew Herzon, I hate you, but damn do I respect you." I would like to steal that line and you use it towards you two eight. You know me to well and it astonishes me. I do project my insecurities on to you two eight, but you need to realize it's so much easier to make excuses. Not everyone is spending 4 hours a day in the gym sculpting the perfect physique, like you do. Not everyone can make bare handed plays throwing the running out by 1/2 a step. Not everyone one can put one out to our deep left field fence. Believe it or not marinpiece there are few that can do what you do. You may be unaware but you are a great athlete. Though you have opened my eyes to the real world. You say you feed of my mental weakness, but are wrong my friend I feed off of you. You make fun of those who are down and out but I take the high road. I could rip on you all day two eight, but I wont. I drop down to your level. I think you're great Matt I really do, but no one is perfect. Everyone strives to be immortal but not deuces because he wants to have imperfections. I want to learn from my mistakes. I want to be the under dog and rise above. To have that feeling of greatness by overcoming the impossible is what I live for. I want to shake the unshakable, take the untakable, and hit the unhitable. You will never have that feeling if you are perfect.
I just want to leave you with some words of wisdom. It's states time and your head needs to be in the right place so read this closely:
There are so many emotions at the end of a season and nobody likes to talk about it. But one of them is fear. Fear that you can come this far and it could all end. The dream could die. But me I like the fear, it means I’m close; it means I’m ready.
We all want respect; we want it from our teammates; from the fans. You want it from other players. There’s a million ways to get respect. There is only one way to get the kind of respect that is undeniable; the kind they can never take away from you. WIN!
It's tourney time two eight and show me why you want it more then anyone
-Deuces....with love
This is it two eight. Everything we have worked for comes to end today. Demarast v. Pascack Hills on a wednesday, sunny afternoon. There wont be 55,000 screaming fans, there won't video camera's watching from 120 different angles, and there wont be a over 100 new baseballs used. There will just be high school kids who love to play the game. There wont be millions of dollars of talent out there or shoe contracts, just kids who want to be there. There is one that sticks out when thinking of love and talent and its you two eight. Your a coaches dream and a pitchers nightmare. Fastball, changeup, curveball, slidepiece it doesn't matter you hit them all. It's something special watching a kid like you preform at the top of his game. It's like seeing a younger me out there when I was in my prime. But besides for the love of the game and memories shared on the field there are precious moments off the field. It's time like going to chilli's and telling stories. That magical night when that single tear slowly crawled out of your eye and ran down the side your face. It was like time stopped and everyone saw. It was something that only g-d could of done. It was a moment that will never be forgotten. This year has tons of moments that will be never forgotten. Words cant express what you mean to me marinpeiece but you will be missed next year. When you head to Ithica and I go to Indiana. This will be the farthest we have ever been apart, but greatness always prevails; and our relationship is something that is untouchable. It's more then love and friendship its a word that can only be made up. It doesn't exist because there has never been something like this before. I will be on the hill today matt at 4:15 and I will look over to see my third baseman with his glove down ready to field. Good luck two eight not only on the field of glory but in life too. You will always be with me 28 wether in my heart or in my head.
